UPDATE: LUCKY'S BEEN ADOPTED!!! WOOHOO!!! Thank you to everyone who read about and asked about Lucky. I just know he'll be SO Happy in his new home!! Thanks again!I was visiting the orphaned pets at the SPCA a few days ago and met Lucky, an Akita/Alaskan Husky mix. I immediately fell in love with him because while growing up on a farm in Michigan, we had two gorgeous full-blood Japanese Akitas. I also felt very upset that a dog like this has been stranded in FLORIDA. In case you don't know about Akitas/Huskies, they don't belong in a tropical climate due to their thick fur intended for cold, northern climates. I spent quite a bit of time with Lucky, wondering how on earth someone could think a dog like this would want to be in Florida of all places! Then I put my thinking cap on. I decided I would take action and use my social networking to see if I could find a northerner to adopt Lucky, to get him in the climate he deserves!
Please, to all my northern friends, viewers, occasional browsers, please pass this information along. You can see pictures of Lucky at the Lakeland SPCA site, but I'm also including some here, along with the information provided by the SPCA.

Lucky seemed sad to be locked up, but he enjoyed my company just petting him and talking to him. He sat on command so I rewarded him with a Milk Bone treat and I admit I also gave him a rawhide chew...he deserved it!Species Dog

Come on, guys, let's make Lucky mean something! Thanks.

I am soooo happy for him. When you first sent me the e-mail I wanted to adopt him so bad, but then you would have had to drive him all the way up here and so on and it would have been crazy. lol
ReplyDeleteP.S. Would have loved to see you though.
I know, it would have taken some doing. I even considered adopting him just to make sure he had more time to find a family. But my little apartment wouldn't have been any better for him. Thanks for commenting.
