Now...on to other things. Did you also know that the SPCA has their very own FULL SERVICE MEDICAL CENTER - that serves EVERYONE? Imagine making your pet's regular veterinary appointments and knowing that the cost you pay is benefiting the SPCA. You can get everything you get at a regular vet at the SPCA medical center.
Did you also know that you can buy everyday pet items at the SPCA store?
And did you further know that the SPCA has an adoption center and pet boutique at LAKESIDE VILLAGE? They're only there with the animals on Fridays and Saturdays. Check out the website or call to get hours. They're on the left side of the road on the main entrance into the mall (the road that ends at the entrance to the theater).
All of the above is how to connect with the SPCA and I haven't even mentioned how important it is that you should go visit the shelter in hopes of adopting a pet. All animals get a thorough exam, any medication they need, they're tested for personality; they get the royal treatment! I adopted my dog from there 14 years ago and he's still in the family, like one of the kids, and I wouldn't trade that experience for anything in the world.
Yes, there's MORE:
- Guardian Angel Fund - provides life saving medical treatment
- Ani-Meals Program - provides dog food and cat food for pets owned by Meals on Wheels clients
- Foster Care Program - provides temporary foster care for recovering pets needing adoption
- Humane Education Program - provides education to school children about proper animal care and other animal topics
- Grief Counseling - provides counseling for the loss of a pet or loved one
- DogSense Obedience - provides canine obedience training
- Pet First Aid - provides first aid education and pet cpr
- And the list goes on!
It's all very dizzying, when you look at how much the SPCA does in a single day. That's why I pledged to do what I can by becoming an official SPCA volunteer.
I'll leave you with the words spoken every day for 27 years by someone I won't need to name:
"Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered."
